Gallery: September 2024 Researcher in Residence Induction Event
The Innovation Launchpad Network hosted a special two day event in Birmingham last week (11th, 12th September 2024) for our Researchers in Residence (RiRs).
The RiRs were invited to a venue in Birmingham to meet fellow academics, the Innovation Launchpad management team and Catapult representatives in person. The researchers were challenged to create a PechaKucha-style presentation which summarised their research proposal, offering a unique insight into these projects.
Following on from the morning’s entertaining PechaKucha session, we held a panel featuring HVMC Deputy CTO Jon Blackburn and two of our RiRs who are well into their projects: Libby Duignan from University of Liverpool and Dawid Hanak from Teesside University. A podcast featuring this panel discussion will be published very soon.

The day also featured a session on Intellectual Property and Project Management, led by ILN+ Director Pete Osborne and ILN+ Manager Kristina Parry respectively. Dawid Hanak, who also featured in a previous RiR panel discussion, ran a session in the afternoon on the importance of webinars and how to build a following online.
Investigator for Resilience Professor Paul Jennings rounded off the day with a word on how inspiring he found the RiRs in the room to be.
